Hong Kong Government Appointments

Stephen Lam has been appointed Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, replacing Henry Tang who has resigned.  The Director of the Chief Executive’s Office, Raymond Tam, will replace Mr. Lam as Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.

Record High Number of Companies with Regional HQs: U.S. Tops Lists

The total number of overseas and Mainland Chinese parent companies running business operations in Hong Kong recorded its highest level to date with 6,948 companies, a 5.9 percent increase from 2010, according to an annual survey released by Invest Hong Kong and the Census and Statistics Department.

Third Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival

On October 27, at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, the 2011 Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival was officially launched amid jazz tunes by erhu-player Jessie Hou and singer Mimi Lo.  Their East-meets-West performances gave a rousing start to the four-day festival organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
