Stellar Year Earns Worldwide Acclaim Economic indicators point to continued growth for Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx), which last year surpassed New York as the second biggest market for IPOs (initial public offerings), after London. Arbitration Status Gains Global Trust In 2006, the number of arbitration cases handled by Hong Kong climbed to a record high of 394. In terms of caseload, this cements the city as the fourth busiest arbitration center in the world, after Mainland China, U.S. and Europe. Further Liberalization Measures Between Hong Kong and Mainland China Explored under CEPA On February 13, 2007, Hong Kong's Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau (CITB) and Mainland China's Ministry of Commerce convened in Hong Kong the first senior officials meeting of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) to discuss further liberalization of services trade and advancement of trade and investment facilitation under CEPA. Plush Hotels Showcase Kowloon Waterfront The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide are investing in new, up-market properties in Hong Kong, responding to the city's continuing boom in business and leisure travel. World Customs Organization Promotes Secure Global Trade On February 13, 2007, more than 50 representatives from various customs administrations of the Asia Pacific region and international organizations of the logistic industry gathered in Hong Kong for the World Customs Organization (WCO) Regional Seminar, "SAFE Framework of Standards (FoS) to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade." Hong Kong Games Launched to Promote Community Sports The 1st Hong Kong Games will be held from April 21 to May 6, 2007 to promote sports in the community.
