June 13, 2017 – The Hong Kong Commissioner participated in a panel discussion on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region cosponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

Large-scale bamboo sculptures in San Francisco on display to mark 20th anniversary of establishment of HKSAR

Six vase-shaped bamboo lanterns, ranging in height from 16 to 20 feet, are lighting up Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco. The special exhibition, “Sui Sui Ping An – Peace All Year Round” by Hong Kong artist Freeman Lau, is on display until March 10. To echo the installation at the Plaza, a 6-foot tall lantern is on show at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.

Financial Secretary Unveils 2017-18 Budget

In delivering his 2017-18 budget, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Paul Chan warned that risk factors in the external environment may threaten export trade in Asia. He stressed that sustaining domestic demand was crucial to maintaining the stable development of the city’s economy and underpinning the employment market.

Chief Executive delivers 2017 Policy Address

Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (January 28, 2017) outlined plans in his 2017 Policy Address to develop the economy and improve people’s livelihood.

“We believe that only through economic development can we improve people’s livelihood and promote social harmony and inclusion,” Mr Leung said, delivering his fifth and final Policy Address, “Make Best Use of Opportunities, Develop the Economy, Improve People’s Livelihood, Build an Inclusive Society”.
