Senior Administrative Assistant/Accounts
 in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington, D.C.

(Salary: US$46,512 or above per annum depending on relevant experience)

Entry Requirements

  1. A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent;
  2. Minimum three* years’ relevant working experience in general office duties with emphasis on accounting work and bookkeeping;
  3. Fluency in spoken/written English;
  4. Experience with QuickBooks Pro is a significant advantage;
  5. Fluency in spoken/written Chinese is an advantage;
  6. Work experience in public or governmental organization is an advantage; and
  7. Eligible to take up employment in the U.S.

*The selected candidate with more than three years of relevant experience may be appointed at a higher salary.

Job Description

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Senior Administrative Assistant/Accounts will:

  1. Assist in the preparation of office budget and fund allocation;
  2. Assist in the management of the office imprest system, including monthly and yearly reconciliations;
  3. Process payments and reimbursement claims in a timely manner and in compliance with relevant rules and regulations;
  4. Handle account receivable for the office in a timely manner and in compliance with relevant rules and regulations;
  5. Liaise with financial institutions on behalf of the office;
  6. Prepare, verify and process payrolls and payroll adjustments;
  7. Handle accounting duties related to the office’s insurance and related programs; and
  8. Assist in any ad hoc duties involving accounting and bookkeeping as requested.

Term of Appointment

Two and a half years’ contract term, starting September 2022. Upon completion of the contract term, the employee may be eligible for a new contract, based on an assessment of overall performance over the first contract term.


  1. Medical and dental insurance coverage (insurance premium to be shared by employer and employee on a 85:15 basis)
  2. Vacation leave;
  3. Paid sick leave; and
  4. 10% end-of-contract gratuity, to be paid upon satisfactory completion of the employment contract.
